You get what you pay for. We had a very warm reception and got a free upgrade from the economy room (bunk beds) to a twin room. The beds were very comfortable. Free maps given at reception and they are happy to answer any questions. You can also store your luggage if you wish, but we didn't given the distance from the centre and we didn't have much luggage. Facilities - towels were provided in our room. You have to put your own bed sheets on and take them off at check out. There were soap dispensers at sink and shower. You can borrow board games at reception if you give id/a deposit which is returned - we liked this. Room very basic (no tv etc) but more than adequate. We stayed during a very cold period but there was a radiator in our room which kept us more than warm enough. If staying during very hot periods, there was a fan in the room but might be a bit stuffy? Location - it is a 20 min walk from the centre which didn't bother us, but the neighbourhood where the hostel is situated might not be the best to be alone at night. Breakfast - breakfast was basic, but good. Buffet continental style - bread, cheese, cold meats, fruit, lots of jams and spreads, yoghurt, boiled eggs, orange juice, tea/coffee machine. The breakfast room closes at 9.30 so you need to be out by then. You bring your own dishes up and stack them in racks.

A Great Stay at Generation Europe Youth Hostel! I had a wonderful 2-night stay at Generation Europe Youth Hostel in Brussels from Nov 25 to Nov 27. The experience was fantastic overall! Breakfast: While the stay was enjoyable, the breakfast was a bit disappointing. The options were very limited, and the fruits, like bananas, were served in half-cut portions, which felt unusual and unappealing. Room: The room was spacious, comfortable, and well-maintained. The beds were cozy, and I appreciated the thoughtful touches like reading lights and USB charging ports. Cleanliness: The entire hostel, including the common areas and bathrooms, was spotless. The staff clearly put a lot of effort into keeping everything clean and welcoming. The hostel also had a great atmosphere, with friendly staff and a lively common area where I met fellow travelers. Its convenient location made it easy to explore the city. Despite the breakfast, I would definitely stay here again!

It was definitely better than I expected from the previous reviews! It is a typical French auberge, very big and well organised. Only 4 beds in our spacious ensuite female dorm, even a table with chairs and enough storage space. Every bed had an individual light, a socket and a USB socket. Location was not far from the historical centre, and definitely not a dangerous neighbourhood as some reviews try to suggest! It's just a Muslim neighbourhood, fine by me, lots of tasty food! It was quiet at night. I don't get the complaints about breakfast either, plenty of options to choose from, even plant-based milk. Maybe just some sweet pastries would be nice. There is also a vending machine for drinks and snacks, which accepts both cash and cards. Oh and there is a kitchen too, I haven't been there but it's downstairs just next to the dining room, you need your room key to enter.

The dorm rooms are spacious for four people. Each of the dorms has own bathroom and separate toilet room. The locker boxes are big. If you don't have a lock, there is a vending machine at the lobby (6€ per lock, good quality) The breakfast that is included fits different tastes ( bread and butter, a variety of cheese and meat, boiled eggs, a variety of bred spreads from sweet to salty, muesli, fresh fruits, tea, coffee, juices, water) Enclosed parking space are available. There is a bus stop in close proximity. Metro a few meters more. Into city center it's a 20min walk. The area is safe. WiFi works properly.

We stayed in the hostel for 4 nights. Everything was as described. The room was fine for two people. There was a small foldable desk, a chair, and a private bathroom. They gave us towels and sheets for the bed. We had breakfast included, which was buffet style and had many options, including fruit, cereals, toast, juice and coffee. There is also a bar with cheap beer. The staff is really nice and they are willing to help anytime.Special thanks to Gabriel from the reception and Valeria from the kitchen for being extra kind and helping us. We totally recommend this hostel.
